Exploring the World of Cultural Competence

In this session, participants will gain an understanding of the importance of inclusive language, recognizing and avoiding microaggressions, and developing intercultural competency skills. Participants will learn about the importance of avoiding microaggressions and the impact they can have. The training will then focus on developing intercultural competency skills, including understanding different cultural norms and practices, being aware of one’s own cultural biases, and learning effective communication strategies for working with people from diverse backgrounds.

Hannah Stegen (she/her) is a co-founder of CultureAlly and has over 7 years of experience in the DEI space. She previously led the diversity & inclusion strategy at Capital One. She transitioned to diversity & inclusion consulting and has several years of experience consulting with for-profit, nonprofit and government organizations like Condé Nast, Amazon and Indeed. Hannah is passionate about creating accessible workspaces and establishing practices and policies where employees can thrive in their work.
